Olga Ovcharenko

(Psychologist, camp leader)

In 2017, Olga completed a Master’s in Psychology at Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University, specializing in positive psychotherapy. From 2018-2020, participated in the NAPNU art therapy project and trained as a gestalt therapist.  Olga has an extensive experience in psychology through trainings, individual and group therapy, workshops, and seminars. She has a bard song contest diploma holder and a third-category mountaineer.

Since 2018,  Olga was involved as an instructor and psychologist in the outdoor camps “GoYra” (Ukraine). After reallocation to Slovakia in 2022, she has been working with YMCA Slovakia on refugee integration projects in collaboration with Accenture. Interned at YMCA Storkhove (Germany), providing psychological support for children, teens, and adults through camps, excursions, and therapy groups.

Olga participated in the “Nature as Healing” programme as a psychologist. We have been organizing these programmes for refugees since the summer of 2022 and are confident that they help Ukrainians more easily adapt to new living conditions in another country, make them happier and more self-confident, deal with the psychological problems of post-traumatic syndrome, especially in children who survived the horrors of war.

Olga believes nature allows children to be themselves—curious, open, and connected to the world. These experiences help them appreciate nature’s beauty and fragility, returning home with a sense of discovery and responsibility for the future.
